Quest Hotel in Simpang Lima, Semarang, Hosts a Festive People's Fair to Support Local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Quest Hotel Simpang Lima Semarang held a People's Fair featuring 10 local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The event showcased a variety of culinary products, handicrafts, batik, and more. Open to hotel guests as well as the general public, it provided an opportunity to purchase high-quality MSME products.

 

Yohannes Argowardono, the General Manager of Quest Hotel Simpang Lima Semarang, known as Doni, explained that the event was born from internal discussions among the hotel’s management. “The Semarang City Government has encouraged hotels to help support MSME development. We wanted to create a space for MSMEs to thrive, and this People's Fair is one way to do that,” said Doni.

 

This event is also part of Quest Hotel's efforts to contribute to the local economy by empowering MSMEs. Yohannes Argowardono emphasized that similar events will be held regularly, every two to three months, to provide MSMEs with a sustainable platform to promote their products. “Depending on the needs of the MSME association, we will schedule it accordingly. We want to ensure there’s enough time in between events to attract guests and the public,” he added.

 

In the future, participating MSMEs will rotate, allowing more business owners to get involved. If enthusiasm continues to grow, the hotel plans to expand the event area to the parking lot so more MSMEs can participate.

 

Besides the MSME bazaar, the People’s Fair also included a social activity involving 20 underprivileged children from the Rabu Ceria Community. Event committee chair Joko Prasetyo explained that the social activity included batik painting sessions, art painting, and drink-making workshops. The participating children also received goodie bags and lunch.

 

“The main goal of this People's Fair is to support the development of Semarang’s MSMEs while also promoting local tourism,” said Joko Prasetyo.

 

Through this initiative, Quest Hotel Simpang Lima Semarang hopes that local MSMEs will continue to grow and make a positive contribution to the economy of Semarang City.
